Elon Musk visited Beijing to discuss Tesla’s future in China. He met with Premier Li Qiang and discussed expanding Tesla’s presence.
Li assured Musk that China welcomes foreign investments and will improve conditions for them. Tesla’s success in China, especially with its Shanghai Gigafactory, was acknowledged.
Musk praised the factory’s performance and expressed interest in further collaboration with China. Musk also met with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade to discuss partnerships. His visit coincided with the Beijing Auto Show.
Tesla faces competition in China’s EV market but remains a leader, selling over 1.7 million cars since 2012.
Despite recent layoffs to boost productivity, Tesla’s commitment to China remains strong, as evident from its ongoing projects like a new battery factory in Shanghai.
