Palnadu district and Rentachintala in Guntur district experienced scorching temperatures, reaching 46.2 degrees Celsius on May 1, making them the hottest places in India. This was notably 4.5 degrees Celsius above the normal maximum temperature.

According to a report from the IMD, this marked the first time in Andhra Pradesh’s history that the maximum temperature exceeded 46 degrees Celsius.

Tirupati recorded the state’s second-highest temperature at 45.6°C (5.2 degrees above normal), followed by Nandyal at 45.4°C, Nandigama at 44.6°C, Kurnool at 44.5°C, Kadapa at 44.2°C, Anantapur at 43.4°C, Amaravati at 43.2°C, Kavali at 43.1°C, and Tuni at 41.4°C.

In many parts of the state, the minimum temperature also stayed around 28 degrees Celsius, exacerbating the heatwave conditions.

The lowest temperatures were recorded in Kalingapatnam at 34.4 degrees Celsius in Srikakulam district and Visakhapatnam at 34.9 degrees Celsius.
