Netflix has today announced that it has ended password sharing in India. It has, however, announced that password sharing will be limited to family members.
The OTT giant in a statement said, “Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are – at home, on the go, on holiday – and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices.”
Netflix in the statement stated that it has initiated the distribution of emails to customers who are sharing Netflix outside their household in India. The statement continued, “We recognize that our members have many entertainment choices. It is why we continue to invest heavily in a wide variety of new films and TV shows – so whatever your taste, mood, or language and whoever you are watching with, there is always something satisfying to watch on Netflix.”
This global crackdown has helped Netflix add nearly 6 Million subscribers globally. The OTT giant finished the second quarter with a total of 238 Million subscribers and a profit of $1.5 Billion.
