Bengaluru: Yaduveer Wadiyar, the scion of the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru and BJP MP from Mysuru, emphasized the need for a uniquely Indian and Swadeshi approach to education, stating that India no longer requires an education system from the East or the West.
Speaking at the fourth edition of InvokED, an education leadership dialogue hosted by ShikshaLokam in Bengaluru, Wadiyar highlighted that India’s global aspirations can only be realized by drawing from its grassroots strengths and ancient traditions.

India’s Educational Future Lies in Its Roots
“I know InvokED, Shikshagraha, and other institutions are working to change curriculum and learning methods. What India requires now is not a system from the West or the East, but an education model that reflects our own cultural and intellectual heritage,” said Wadiyar.
He stressed that India’s geopolitical positioning, youth demographic, linguistic diversity, and talent pool provide it with a competitive advantage on the world stage.
Education as the Foundation for ‘Viksit Bharat’
Wadiyar urged India to position itself correctly, understanding both its ancient cultural legacy and evolving global trends.
“We have managed to conserve our culture for thousands of years. If we are to build the Viksit Bharat we envision, it must be rooted in our traditions and values. Our true identity and principles must be shared globally,” he asserted.
The two-day event, held at the Prestige Center for Performing Arts (PCPA) in Bengaluru, brought together over 1,000 stakeholders from civil society, government, and industry to honor changemakers in public education.
Continuing BJP’s Winning Streak in Mysuru
Yaduveer Wadiyar, who won the Mysuru Lok Sabha seat in 2024, marked his maiden electoral victory by defeating Congress’ M. Lakshman with a margin of 1,39,262 votes, securing a third consecutive win for BJP in the constituency.
