Vijayawada: The prestigious Padma Awards 2025 have brought recognition to several eminent personalities from Andhra Pradesh, celebrating their contributions across various fields.
Renowned actor and three-time Hindupur MLA, Nandamuri Balakrishna, has been conferred the Padma Bhushan for his exceptional achievements in the arts. Known for his cinematic legacy and philanthropy, he also champions cancer care through the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital.
In the Padma Shri category, Kosaraju Leela Krishna was honored for his contributions to literature and education, while celebrated poet and performer Dr Madugula Nagaphani Sarma was recognized for his work in Vedic literature and arts. Sarma, hailing from Kadavakallu village, has passionately preserved poetry and music traditions.
Economist KL Krishna, born in Krishna district, received the Padma Shri for his impactful contributions to economics and education. With a distinguished academic career at the Delhi School of Economics and as Chairman of CESS, he has mentored over 40 doctoral scholars.
Posthumously, Miriyala Apparao, a Burrakatha artist from Dr Ambedkar Konaseema district, and Vadiraj Raghawendracharya Panchamukhi, a Sanskrit scholar and former Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha Chancellor, were honored.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu congratulated the awardees, lauding their exceptional contributions to arts, literature, and society.
