Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited flood-affected areas in the state, accusing the central government of conspiracy behind the recent floods. She pointed fingers at the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), claiming that the agency failed to dredge dams, leading to severe flooding in various districts of Bengal.

Banerjee specifically blamed DVC’s release of 5.5 lakh cusecs of water from the Maithon and Panchet dams along the Jharkhand-Bengal border for the current situation. While inspecting the flood-hit Paschim Medinipur district on September 19, she warned that Bengal would sever all ties with DVC if such incidents continue.
Mamata Banerjee also demanded that DVC take full responsibility for the human-made disaster and directed officials to provide necessary relief to the affected families.
The flood situation has caused widespread damage, and Mamata Banerjee vowed to ensure aid reaches all those impacted.
