New Delhi: A new development occurred recently in the investigation of the illegal assets case involving YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Supreme Court Judge Justice PV Sanjay Kumar recused himself from hearing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) cases.
Previously, the Telangana High Court had directed that judgments in ED cases should be delivered only after the CBI cases are concluded. The ED challenged this High Court order in the Supreme Court.
The petition was brought before a bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar for hearing today. Both sides’ lawyers were prepared to present their arguments when Justice Sanjay Kumar announced his recusal from the case.
Following his recusal, Justice Sanjiv Khanna directed that the matter be listed before a different bench in early next month. The recusal has delayed the proceedings, and a new bench will hear the case in the coming weeks.
