India has reported 10,542 new COVID infections. This is one of the highest tallies in recent times. According to the Union Health Ministry data, active cases have increased to 63,562, and 38 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours due to COVID, the highest being recorded in Kerala with 11 deaths. With this, the death toll has increased to 5,31,190. In this regard, sources close to the government have revealed that the infection rate for COVID is likely to subside after 10-12 days.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.39 percent and the weekly positivity rate was at 5.1 percent. The active cases now comprise 0.14 percent of the total infections and the recovery rate is reported at 98.67 percent.
Under the nationwide vaccination drive, a total of 220.66 crore doses have been administered so far.
