The sources on Monday revealed that the two persons returning from international travel have tested COVID positive. One of the passengers came from Singapore while the other one was from Kaula Lumpur. The COVID-tested patients are kept in quarantine in Beliaghata ID Hospital. Both of the samples have been sent for genome sequencing.

It is known that random testing has commenced random post-arrival for international arrivals. From December 24th, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, 2 percent of all passengers who arrive at the Delhi airport will have to undergo random COVID testing. The steps were taken to decrease the new COVID-19 variant spread BF.7 in India.

It is also known that earlier in the day, four international passengers arriving from Myanmar have been tested COVID positive at the Delhi airport. With the new variant spread, the nation is gearing up for the possible fourth wave.
