Death toll crosses 237 in Coromandel train accident and over 900 injured. As per the official information, at least 10-12 coaches of Coromandel Express derailed and fell on the other track when the train is at freaking speed near Bahanaga railway station and Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express collided with the derailed coaches fell on the other track resulting in the derailment of 2-3 coaches. According to Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena, a goods train was also involved in this freakish and massive accident.

In the districts near the borders of Odisha including Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, and Vishakapatnam, ambulances were alerted to be kept ready in case of need. AP Minister Gudivada Amarnath reached the accident spot along with 3 IAS officers.

Tamilnadu CM Stalin announced that all kinds of possible help will be extended to Odisha. Several residents of Balasore turn up at blood donation centers voluntarily to donate blood after the accident. Seven NDRF teams, five ODRAF teams and 24 Fire Service Units along with local police and volunteers are continuing the rescue operations.
