Suhas of Color Photo fame came up with another interesting drama titled Writer Padmabhushan. The movie gained superb buzz before its release, thanks to aggressive promotions. Did Suhas shine again?

Story:

Padmabhushan (Suhas) is an aspiring writer who wants to score big in the field. He writes a book but it gets a mediocre response. When life goes dull, a book in his name gets published and gets a tremendous response. Everyone starts appreciating his writing. Even his marriage gets settled with Sarika (Tina) whose father loved the writing of Padmabhushan.

However, the twist in the tale is that Padmabhushan never wrote that book. Then, who wrote it? Why did they put Padmabhushan’s name? What happens thereafter is the rest of the story.

Performances:

Suhas is a simple guy and gives us the feel of the boy next door. He has impeccable comedy timing and scores well in emotional scenes as well. We have seen that in Color Photo. In Writer Padmabhushan, it goes to the next level. Suhas will score brownie points with the performance in the movie.

Tina Shilparaj is okay as the female lead. She got a substantial role and performed decently. Gouri Priya raises expectations with her entry toward the interval. However, her character isn’t etched properly.

It is very cool to see Ashish Vidyarthi and Rohini in the parents’ roles. Every parent will relate to these characters. They have performed really well, especially Rohini toward the final act.

The others are just fine.

Technicalities:

Shanmukha Prashant picked up a decent story. He wrote a relatable subject. The screenplay is decent if not top-notch. He has done a decent job as a debutante. He could have handled well some of the sequences though. It is a good outing for him.

The production values are adequate. Editing is neat and sufficient. The Cinematography stands out. Vijayawada was portrayed very uniquely in some frames. Sekhar Chandra and Kalyan Nayak’s music is impressive, and so is the background score.

Analysis:

Writer Padmabhushan is a decent outing that can be watched with your parents. There are enough twists that will keep you engaged. The last 20 minutes is heart touching and explain the flavor of the film. Overall, it is a decent one-time watch.

Rating: 3/5.
