In a case filed by the Government Labor Insurance Corporation, the Egmore Court sentenced 6 months of jail to veteran actress and former MP Jaya Prada. Going into the case, actress Jaya Prada was running two theaters in Chennai including the famous Jaya Prada. There have already been cases in the theaters where the property has been confiscated due to non-payment of the property tax.

On the other hand, Jaya Prada’s theater management has been deducting ESI payments from the theater workers but not paying them properly to the State Labor Insurance Corporation. As a result, the Government Labor Insurance Corporation filed a case against the actress and now the court has imposed 6 months imprisonment on the actress. Three others were also convicted in the same case, each fined Rs, 5,000.

Jaya Prada born with the name Lalitha Rani Rao is a celebrated actress in the Telugu and Hindi industries in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.
