The 1996 film ‘Indian’ captivated the entire Tollywood industry, becoming a blockbuster hit with a dedicated fan base. Now, years later, the much-anticipated sequel, ‘Indian 2,’ directed by Shankar and starring Kamal Haasan, has finally been released.
However, despite high expectations, the film failed to impress audiences upon its release on July 12, receiving negative feedback from the first day. One significant criticism was the film’s runtime.

In response, the filmmakers decided to reduce the runtime by cutting approximately 20 minutes of scenes, bringing the movie’s length down from 3 hours to 2 hours and 40 minutes. This new version is already playing in theaters.
Despite these efforts, ‘Indian 2’ struggled at the box office, earning Rs 56 crore on its opening day but failing to maintain momentum over the weekend. With the shortened runtime, it remains to be seen if the film will attract more viewers and improve its box office performance.
Meanwhile, plans for ‘Indian 3’ are already underway, with the trailer for the next installment released. Fans and critics alike are eager to see how the sequel fares.
