The prestigious nominations for the Academy Awards 2023 will be announced today. It will be live-streamed on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, or on the Academy’s social media channels, including YouTube.
India is looking with bated eyes for these nominations announcements as four Indian movies are expected nominations in multiple categories. The first that comes in the list is RRR which expects at least two nominations including the Best Original Song Naatu Naatu which recently won the Golden Globe. RRR might have a chance in the Best Foreign Film category as well.
Also, the Gujarati-language film Chhello Show (The Last Film Show) is in contention for the International Feature Film. This film is India’s official entry in the category. Shaunak Sen’s documentary film All That Breathes has been shortlisted in the Best Documentary category and it was recently nominated at the BAFTA as well.
Kartiki Gonsalves’ short documentary The Elephant Whisperers is also expecting a nomination in the Best Documentary Short Film category. The announcement will be made at 7 PM IST.
