Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is set to retain Australian batsman Travis Head and Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Travis Head, who had a remarkable season in 2024, will be retained for Rs 14 crore, while Nitish Reddy will receive Rs 6 crore. These final two retentions will complete SRH’s five capped players and mark an Rs 75 crore deduction from their Rs 120 crore purse.
Pat Cummins, who led SRH to the playoffs in the 2024 season, will continue as the team’s captain, backed by coach Daniel Vettori. Alongside Cummins, Heinrich Klaasen (Rs 23 crore), Abhishek Sharma (Rs 14 crore), Head, and Nitish make up the capped player retentions for SRH. The franchise has the option to use a Right-to-Match card to reclaim an uncapped player at the auction.
Head, whose explosive performance with 567 runs at a 191.55 strike rate was instrumental in SRH’s journey to the 2024 final, continues to draw attention for his fee above the Rs 14 crore retention slab. Indian talent Nitish Reddy also turned heads last season with impactful all-round performances, earning him a call-up for India’s upcoming Australia tour.
The IPL retention deadline for franchises is October 31, allowing up to six total retentions per team before the 2025 mega auction.
