In a tough match against New Zealand, Team India fell short, losing the second Test by 113 runs while chasing a target of 359. Young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal stood out with a valiant 77 off 65 balls, hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes. However, with little support from other batsmen, India was bowled out for 245 runs.

Despite the loss, Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first Indian batter to hit over 30 sixes in a single calendar year in Test cricket, with a current tally of 32 sixes. This record places him second overall, only behind New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum, who set the record with 33 sixes in 2014. Yashasvi Jaiswal is now just two sixes away from breaking McCullum’s record, with upcoming opportunities in the third Test and the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive form this year has garnered 1084 runs across 19 innings, making him the third Indian batter to score over 1000 Test runs at home in a single year, joining legends Gundappa Viswanath and Sunil Gavaskar, both of whom reached the feat in 1979. The third Test against New Zealand is scheduled to start on November 1 in Mumbai, followed by the Border-Gavaskar series beginning November 22.
