What went wrong for India in the semifinal

It is not about losing, the way of losing is what is hurting the Indian fans. It is known that England won by 10 wickets against India in the T20 semifinal. It is one of the most one-sided contests we have ever witnessed. England made light work of the Indians by winning it in just 16 overs and not dropping a sweat.

Here are some of the reasons which proved fatal in the end.

* Openers: Both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave the worst starts throughout the world cups. The 4.9 run rate in the powerplay for India is the worst for any side in this world cup. Even Zimbabwe, Ireland, and other nations have better NRR in the powerplay.

* Not picking Chahal: We have seen how Adil Rashid and Livingstone, the wrist spinners were effective in yesterday’s match. India hasn’t picked a wrist spinner. We have a world-class leg spinner in Chahal.

* Rishabh and Dinesh Karthik dilemma: Rishabh Pant was sent as he gives the left-right combination freedom. But India’s top 5 were right-handers. Rishabh came to bat in the 19th over where he couldn’t do much. Dinesh Karthik was selected for the same reason in the squad but he was not picked. Rishabh should have been a lot earlier to tackle the leg spin.
