New Zealand succumbed to pressure in a crucial match which proved fatal to them. They are one of the best fielding sides of the tournament dropping only 3 catches and having an 88 percent success rate. However, in the semifinals, they got into a corner and fumbled. They dropped 3 catches, the first one was Babar Azam on 0. He capitalized on it and went on to score his first fifty of the tournament. Mohammad Rizwan too played his best when it mattered the most. Finally, Pakistan was able to cross the line with  7 wickets in hand.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first on a two-paced pitch. Their openers struggled. Both Conway and Allen got out on low scores. Kane Williamson dropped anchor on one side but the run rate is too low. Daryl Mitchell tried to up the innings and Kane got a few blows as well.

As a result, NZ managed to score 152 which looked par but not to be in the end.
