Against all odds, Sri Lanka has clinched the title. No one in their wildest dreams has given Sri Lanka a chance. Everyone expected India and Pakistan to enter the finals and fight for the coveted title. However, Sri Lanka after their loss against Afghanistan in the league matches has introspected and given a superb comeback. They were unbeaten in the Super 4s. Now, Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup by pipping Pakistan.

Sri Lanka batted first in the finals. The opening and middle order failed big time and Sri Lanka was reduced to 56/5 in quick time. However, the partnership between Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga has changed the complexion of the game. Sri Lanka targeted at least 150 on the board but Pakistan fielders’ negligence and some brilliance from the side of Rajapaksa took the SL score to 170.

Chasing a competitive total, Pakistan was never in the game. After two wickets, Rizwan and Iftikhar took their time to settle in but it was always late. Finally, Pakistan was bundled out for 147.
