Karachi: South Africa dominated the first session after winning the toss and opting to bat against Afghanistan. Ryan Rickelton and Temba Bavuma put on a solid 100-run partnership, with Rickelton leading the charge while Bavuma played a steady hand. Despite Afghanistan’s efforts, the bowlers struggled to find any assistance from the pitch.

Mohammad Nabi provided the much-needed breakthrough, dismissing Bavuma after a successful review overturned an LBW appeal. Shortly after, Noor Ahmad bowled a poor over, conceding boundaries and wides, allowing South Africa to regain momentum.
Rickelton showcased a batting masterclass, reaching a well-paced century by rotating the strike effectively and capitalizing on loose deliveries. Just as he looked set for a massive score, Rashid Khan ran him out with a sharp piece of fielding, ending Rickelton’s innings in a heartbreaking fashion.
South Africa is in a commanding position with power hitters yet to come. Afghanistan will need quick wickets to prevent a massive total.
