Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has suggested that Rohit Sharma should play only as a captain in the IPL. Kaif advised that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) should try to sign Rohit Sharma in the 2025 season and make him their captain.
Rohit Sharma has been with the Mumbai Indians since 2011 and led them to five IPL titles after taking over as captain in 2013. However, before the last season, the Mumbai Indians replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as captain.
Mohammad Kaif believes that Rohit Sharma’s leadership skills are crucial and that he should be appointed captain if any team picks him in the upcoming auction. He stated that Rohit Sharma might not score big runs, but his understanding of building a strong team would benefit RCB, possibly ending their title drought.
On the other hand, there is still no clarity if Rohit Sharma will stay with the Mumbai Indians or move to another franchise, with teams required to submit their retained player list by October 31.
