Mumbai: The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to begin their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. After a disappointing 2024 season, where MI finished at the bottom of the table with only four wins from 14 matches, the team is looking for redemption under captain Hardik Pandya.
Mumbai Indians’ Road to Redemption
MI’s previous season was marred by struggles, particularly for their newly appointed skipper, Hardik Pandya. Fans were unhappy with the replacement of Rohit Sharma, who led the franchise to five titles. However, Pandya silenced critics with a stellar performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, defending 15 runs in the final over against South Africa to secure India’s victory.
Revamped Squad for IPL 2025
To strengthen their squad, MI made key acquisitions in the mega auction, bringing in international stars like Trent Boult, Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton, Mitchell Santner, Reece Topley, and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. Additionally, young Indian talents such as Naman Dhir, Robin Minz, Ashwani Kumar, and Raj Bawa have joined the team.
