Mohammad Shami who is one of the reserves for the upcoming T20 world cup has been added to the squad for the Australian T20 series. But ahead of the first T20, Shami got COVID positive and missed the entire series. Now, he has been replaced by the South African series as well.
BCCI’s official press note states that Shami is yet to fully recover. “will not be able to take part in the three-match T20I series. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umesh Yadav as Shami’s replacement” stated the official BCCI Twitter handle.
Hours after this announcement Shami shared his COVID negative certificate on his Instagram story. He wrote “negative” on it. BCCI has also updated that Deepak Hooda will miss the series as well due to a back injury and he is back at NCA. Shreya Iyer replaces him. Shahbaz Ahmed has been added to the squad as well.
