Mumbai: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season will kick off with an electrifying clash between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 22, 2025. The tournament will conclude with the final on May 25, 2025.
The 10-team tournament will be played across 12 venues, including traditional home grounds and secondary venues like Guwahati (for Rajasthan Royals) and Dharamsala (for Punjab Kings). The second match of the season will see Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at home on March 23, followed by a high-voltage encounter between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Chepauk later that evening.
The opening match will feature two teams under new leadership. RCB has appointed Rajat Patidar as their new captain, while KKR is yet to announce their leader following Shreyas Iyer’s departure. Notably, KKR has dominated RCB at Eden Gardens, winning eight of their 12 encounters at the venue.
