Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar whom fans would call him god of the sport has suggested dynamic changes in the ODI format to make it interesting. Sachin who scored 18426 runs in 463 ODIs and slammed 49 centuries termed the ODI format getting monotonous without any doubt.

He stated that the emergence of T20 cricket and the revival of Test cricket through the World Test Championship put ODI cricket on the back foot. He also pointed out that the use of two new balls in ODI cricket has eliminated the role of reverse swing which would play an interesting role toward the fag end of the innings.

Sachin made these comments at the India Today Conclave. “Especially from the 15th over to the 40th over, the game is losing the momentum,” he opined.

So, Tendulkar suggested that the 50-over format should be played in four innings instead of two. “Both teams should bowl in the first and second half. Commercially it is viable as well as there would be three innings break instead of two,” he said. Sachin also suggested that the using of saliva should be brought back.
