

IPL i.e. Indian Premier League has entered its 16th year. Around 243 cricketers from 10 teams will compete among themselves for 52 days to win the IPL trophy. The 16th season of Indian Premier League 2023 starts on 31st March.
10 teams will play in IPL 2023. The teams are- Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans.
A total of 74 matches will be held in this tournament. There will be 70 league matches and four playoff matches.
The matches will be held in 12 cities namely Ahmedabad, Mohali, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Guwahati and Dharamsala.
The first match in IPL will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans on 31 March.
All teams will play 14 matches each during league play. Seven of those matches will be played at home and the other seven will be played at the home ground of other teams.
After that, the playoff races will be held from May 24 to 27. And on May 29, the final of IPL 2023 will be held.
IPL started in 2008. Eight teams participated in the first edition.
These eight teams were Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Deccan Chargers.
A total of 59 matches were played till the final of the first edition.
The final of the first edition of IPL was played on 1 June 2008 between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. RR won the match.
