India clinched the Asia Champions Trophy title by defeating China 1-0 in a hard-fought final.
Despite numerous attempts, including a missed penalty corner by captain Harmanpreet Singh and a powerful shot by Neelakanta Sharma, India couldn’t score in the first three quarters. However, in the 51st minute of the final quarter, Jugraj Singh netted a crucial goal, assisted by Harmanpreet, which secured India’s win.
China’s strong defense and India’s struggle to score created a tense match, but the final result favored India.
Harmanpreet, who scored 7 goals in the tournament, was named ‘Player of the Tournament.’ Hockey India rewarded each player with Rs 3 lakhs and the support staff with Rs 1.5 lakhs.
This victory marks India’s fifth Asia Champions Trophy win, having previously won in 2011, 2016, 2018, and 2023. India’s strong performance throughout the tournament cemented their place as the champions once again.
