After losing the toss and being asked to bat, India faced early setbacks. Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), and Virat Kohli (6) were dismissed quickly by Hasan Mohammad. Yashasvi Jaiswal (56) and Rishabh Pant (39) tried to steady the innings but fell before India reached 150.

The turning point came when Ashwin and Jadeja built a remarkable partnership, playing aggressive strokes similar to those of an ODI game. Despite Hasan Mohammad taking four wickets, India ended the day with a competitive total thanks to the local boys, Ashwin and Jadeja.
