Adelaide: Adelaide Oval witnessed a gripping start to the second Test between India and Australia, as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bat first after winning the toss.
Australia’s Mitchell Starc made an immediate impact, dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal with an inswinging delivery in the very first over. Jaiswal, coming off a brilliant ton in the last game, departed for a duck, leaving India at 0/1.
Shubman Gill walked in and counterattacked with some exquisite drives through the covers. Despite a grass-laden pitch and overcast conditions favoring bowlers, Gill showed intent, scoring 19 off 29 balls. Partnering him, KL Rahul adopted a more cautious approach, leaving deliveries outside off and remaining unbeaten on 9 from 32 balls.

Scott Boland, known for his accuracy with the pink ball, created two opportunities in his opening over. However, one was nullified due to a no-ball, and the other was dropped at slip by Usman Khawaja. Boland’s promising spell hints at further trouble for Indian batters as the innings progresses.
At the end of 10 overs, India stood at 30/1. While the early wicket gave Australia hope, the lack of consistency in line and fielding lapses could cost them dearly. The first session remains delicately poised.
