Hyderabad: Hyderabad FC (HFC) is gearing up for a major coaching revamp, with interim coach Shameel Chembakath set to depart at the end of the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season. The club has identified Kerala Blasters’ assistant coach Tomasz Tchórz as the leading candidate for the role.

Tomasz Tchórz: The Chosen Successor

HFC had been on the lookout for a new head coach since Thangboi Singto’s exit in December 2024. Among the three shortlisted foreign coaches, Tchórz stood out due to his experience in Indian football and his background in youth development—a key pillar of Hyderabad FC’s vision.

Tchórz, a 32-year-old Polish coach, previously worked with Mohun Bagan, winning the I-League in 2020. He joined Kerala Blasters in June 2020 and played a vital role in their 2022 ISL Cup final appearance and consecutive playoff qualifications. In December 2024, he was promoted to assistant coach after Mikael Stahre’s exit, helping KBFC improve their form.

With his contract at KBFC ending this season, Tchórz is set to take over at Hyderabad on a performance-based contract. He is also pursuing his UEFA Pro Coaching License, further strengthening his credentials.

End of the Road for Chembakath

Shameel Chembakath’s departure marks another Indian coach exiting the ISL. Despite a strong home record—losing just twice in eight matches—Hyderabad struggled in the standings. Reflecting on his tenure, he stated,
“We have made plenty of progress as a team, and this has been a great learning experience. There’s always room for improvement.”

With a new coach on the horizon, Hyderabad FC aims to rebuild and bounce back stronger in the upcoming ISL season.
