Chennai Super Kings emerged victorious again. After being confined to 9th place in the IPL 2022, CSK has now become the champions for the fifth time. In the finals against Gujarat Titans, which lasted for three days, CSK won the title on the last ball. Ravindra Jadeja turned the hero for the franchise as he scored 10 runs of the last 2 balls. Mohit Sharma bowled brilliantly but couldn’t stop the evitable.
GT batted first and scored a gigantic 214 runs by the end of 20 overs. However, rain interrupted the chase and according to the rules, CSK had to chase 171 in the 15 overs. Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad batted fantastically and put on a partnership of 74 in just 6 overs. Though both departed in the same over, the likes of Dube, Rahane, Rayudu and then Jadeja made sure the target is within reach.
With 10 required of 2 balls, Jadeja completed the formalities. MS Dhoni in the post-match presentation said that he could return for another season.
