Making a slight amendment to the four foreign-player rule for Indian Premier League, the Women’s Indian Premier League will have five foreign players with a condition that the fifth foreign player should be from an associate nation. Apart from this, there are other key decisions taken.

BCCI has also set the cap at Rs. 12 Crores for the first edition of the WIPL and the cap will increase by Rs. 1.5 Cr for each year and end up at Rs. 18 Cr at the end of the first five-year cycle.

There will be five teams participating in the tournament for the first three years and another team will be added in the fourth year. BCCI is yet to announce the dates for the first edition of the WIPL. However, as per the reports they are expected to be around March 4th to March 26th.

Viacom 18 has recently bagged media rights from the BCCI.
