Supreme Court today heard the petition filed by Lingamaneni Sivarama Prasad against the alleged illegal constructions of the Chief Minister camp office at Rushikonda. A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud heard the petition and redirected it to the AP High Court as the case is already pending there and a PIL should be filed there. The Supreme Court stated that the petition appeared to be politically motivated.
In the petition, Lingamaneni alleged the violations of orders from the National Green Tribunal and the Andhra Pradesh High Court regarding the constructions at Rushikonda. He requested an immediate halt to the construction and activities on Rushikonda until the cases are resolved in the National Green Tribunal and the AP High Court.
It can be recalled that the AP government passed GO 2015 this October where in states the Chief Minister and other Ministers would frequently visit north coastal Andhra to review the welfare and developmental activities being undertaken in the region.
