Sammathame review – works here and there

Movie: Sammathame
Cast: Kiran Abbavaram, Chandini Chowdary
Director: Gopinath Reddy
Producer: Praveena Kanakala
Music: Sekhar Chandra
Rating: 2.25/5

Young hero Kiran Abbavaram has come up with the movie Sammathame – a romantic entertainer. The promos and the songs have been impressive. Let us check out how the movie is.

Story:
Krishna (Kiran Abbavaram) since childhood has had a fantasy about marriage. He gets a marriage alliance with Shanvi (Chandini Chowdary) but he doesn’t have a good opening on her. However, as time goes on, he develops feeling for her.

Will Krishna express his feelings? How will their love journey end up? forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Kiran Abbavaram perfectly fitted the role. He has ease in acting and that is evident in many sequences. Chandini Chowdary is equally good. The chemistry between the lead pair is excellent. Both the lead pair had a good emotional sequence in the second half which stands as the pillar of the film.

Comedian Sapthagiri comes in as a surprise in a cameo role. He was successful in evoking good laughs. The others did well according to the script. All others are fine.

Technicalities:
Sekhar Chandra after a long time has come up with good work. The songs are nice and the background music, especially in the second half during the emotional take is superb. The cinematography work by Sateesh Reddy is good. The editing by Viplav is decent.

Gopinath Reddy comes up with a nice rom-com but the screenplay needs to tinker more. There is no particular flow in the movie after a few scenes. The proceedings are unnecessary. The production values are decent.

Analysis:
Apart from a few moments here and there, Sammathame has nothing new to offer. The lead pair chemistry is one of the very few plus points the movie has. On the flip side, the movie has unwanted scenes coming one after the other. The emotional angle in the second half is a little savior. Overall, Sammathame is a below-par rom-com that can be easily skipped.

Rating: 2.25/5
