Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh have come together with the action-family drama series Rana Naidu. The 10 episodes series started streaming on the OTT giant Netflix. Let us have a look at how the series is.

Story:

Rana Naidu (Rana Daggubati) is a celebrity problem-fixer. Be it a cine star or a sports person, Rana Naidu will be there to solve their problems. While Rana Naidu is leading a peaceful life with his family, Naga Naidu (Venkatesh), the father of Rana Naidu gets released from jail after 15 years.

Naga Naidu comes directly after Rana Naidu who in turn hates his father to the care. Why does Rana hate his father so much? What did the father want? Why was he jailed in the first place? The series gives you the answers.

Performances:

It’s Rana Daggubati’s show all the way. He plays an author-backed role. His effortless performance can be seen in the series. Venkatesh’s role will surprise us all. We are addicted to his family-oriented roles but this time his cuss words are hard to digest. Performance-wise, Venkatesh killed the role of Naga Naidu. Surveen Chawla plays an important role. Aditya Menon is alright. Sushant Singh and Abhishek Banerjee play Rana’s brothers and they are okay. The rest of the cast is fine.

Technicalities:

Rana Naidu is based on the American TV Series Ray Donovan. It is a dark, crime, and family drama. Basically, the plot is very thin. There are many unwanted sequences that are dragged to the core and test your patience. The hype fusses down very soon and the climax episode is too bland. On the bright side, the production quality is good. The dialogues are alright. Visuals go in the dark all the time. The editing isn’t crisp. The rest of the categories are fine.

Analysis:

Rana Naidu is an undercooked dark family crime drama. Apart from the honest performances of Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh, there is nothing much to boast about the flick. The series offers very little to the audiences who have massive expectations of the combination of Rana and Venkatesh.
