Nandamuri Kalyan Ram who has scored a big hit with Bimbisara has now come up with the next movie Amigos. It deals with the concept of Doppelgangers. Let us check out the review.

Story:

Siddharth (Kalyan Ram) is fascinated with the concept of doppelgangers. He comes across a website where you can meet your doppelgangers, through a friend. Much to his fascination, Siddharth finds not one but two doppelgangers, Manju from Bangalore and Michael from Kolkata.

The three meet and had a great time together. However, it was short-lived when Siddharth and Manju find out about his dark side of Michael. What is the backstory of Michael and what kind of problems do the other two meet due to Michael forms the story?

Performances:

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram picks up another challenging role. His efforts are evident. His honest and capable performance makes one glued to the screen. The variations he shows for the three characters are commendable.

Ashika Ranganath is good to look at onscreen. She has given a manageable performance. She is alright, overall. Brahmaji aptly supports Kalyan Ram. Jaya Prakash is decent. Saptagiri is adequate. The others are just fine.

Technicalities:

Ghibran’s music is just about okay. The remix song and its placement worked well. However, it’s his background score that disappoints. More care should have been taken in this aspect. The cinematography is superb. The film carries a rich look throughout. The editing could have been much finer. The first half needs major trimming. The makers didn’t compromise on the quality as the production design is good.

Rajendra Reddy picked up a subject that has great potential to work on. But the dull narration in the first half plays the spoilsport. The story is good but the narration is weak. No genuine thrills and highs also backfired.

Analysis:

Amigos is another daring attempt from Kalyan Ram. But sadly this will not work like Bimbisara. It is not even close. Amigos is a middling attempt from the debutante director Rajendra Reddy. He should be appreciated for picking up such a story but could have taken care of the narration, especially the first half.

Overall, Amigos is a below-average fair that can be watched only if you have nothing to do this weekend.
