The Andhra Pradesh assembly elections are just a week away, and the party leaders’ campaigns are turning much more aggressive. Not only the local media but also the national media are quite interested in the AP elections this time because of multi-forces joining hands to defeat the current state CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party, YSR Congress.
Recently, YS Jagan gave an interview to Rajdeep Sardesai on India Today. Talking about the current election campaign scenario and the chances for the YSRCP to form government again, Jagan said that Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP chief, is pulling in his foxy skills to win against him. YS Jagan mentioned that Chandrababu is the man behind putting his own sister, YS Sharmila, against him. He also added that A Revanth Reddy was also a student of Chandrababu once, and that’s the reason Congress is backing YS Sharmila in Andhra Pradesh with the support of Telangana CM. YS Jagan also went to the extent of saying that Chandrababu is even controlling PM Narendra Modi through an alliance, promising the BJP to make an impact in the south.
Responding to these allegations, YS Sharmila, in her interview with the BBC, said that YS Jagan’s campaign revolves much around Chandrababu Naidu and not welfare. She added that the CM is the one highlighting the power of Chandrababu Naidu at both the state and central levels, thinking that he is defaming him. YS Sharmila also clarified that she is not being backed by Chandrababu Naidu, and it’s just the respect she has for a senior leader in the state in inviting him to her son’s marriage. She also made fun of YS Jagan, saying that he has a fear of facing Chandrababu Naidu in the state for the upcoming elections.
