Visakhapatnam: Union Steel Minister Kumaraswamy clarified that allegations about the privatization of the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) by the NDA government are false and baseless. Responding to Congress leader KC Venugopal’s claims on X, he said that the issue of removing contract workers was resolved quickly.
On September 27, around 4,200 contract workers were removed, but they were reinstated on September 29.
Kumaraswamy urged people not to use this issue for political gain, stressing that the Vizag Steel Plant is not being privatized. He also assured that the online system will soon restore the passes for 3,700 contract laborers.
The government is committed to supporting workers through necessary facilities and biometric data restoration, as stated by Kumaraswamy. He also highlighted that the NDA government is effectively managing public sector units, resulting in a major increase in their share value over the past three years.
