Visakhapatnam: Trade unions at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) – Visakhapatnam Steel Plant have launched a large-scale postcard movement to address the challenges faced by the steel plant. The campaign aims to send 10 lakh postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking urgent intervention to secure the plant’s future.
Highlighting the significance of the campaign, J. Ayodhyaram, a trade union leader from CITU-Visakhapatnam, said, “The postcard movement is a symbolic but impactful initiative to highlight the steel plant’s dire situation. It is a vital national asset, and we urge the Prime Minister to step in and ensure its revival and protection.”

The unions have raised concerns over the financial difficulties faced by RINL and the perceived lack of government action to resolve them. Mobilizing both workers and the local community, the movement seeks to draw attention to the steel plant’s critical role in the region’s economy and employment.
The postcard campaign is expected to receive substantial participation from various stakeholders, emphasizing the collective demand to save the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The initiative underscores the urgency of government intervention to preserve this iconic industrial institution and safeguard the livelihoods it supports.
