The all-hyped Munugode by-poll kickstarted today in all 298 polling stations. The polling started in the constituency in the Nalgonda district by 7 AM and it will continue until 6 PM. Tight Security has been provided for the elections to happen smoothly. As many as 47 candidates are contesting in these by-polls out of which the main battle will be between TRS and BJP.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj stated that the polling is being monitored through webcasting. Over 2.41 voters are eligible to cast their vote out of which half of them are women. 1,492 polling personnel and 199 micro observers were deployed for the smooth conduct of the elections.

The by-poll came into the picture when Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy resigned from Congress and joined BJP. TRS has fielded former MLA Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy while Congress has given the ticket to Palvai Sravanthi Reddy.
