Krishnapatnam: The stage is set to begin work on Andhra Pradesh’s first greenfield smart industrial city, Krishnapatnam Industrial Smart City (KRIS City). Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone, possibly during his visit in early September or on September 20, marking 100 days of the new NDA government.

KRIS City: Works begin for Andhra’s first smart industrial city

KRIS City, part of the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, was approved by the central government during the previous TDP government (2014-19). However, progress was delayed under the YSRCP government. The project, developed in partnership with the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), will span 11,095 acres over three phases.

The first phase, covering 2,134 acres, has received Rs 1,054.6 crores for infrastructure development. The city will include green zones, walking and cycling tracks, residential areas, and food courts, aiming to attract investments of Rs 18,458 crores and create 88,000 jobs.
