Rajahmundry: The Godavari river is in spate due to incessant rain and heavy inflows from upstream, inundating several villages in the united East Godavari and West Godavari districts. Normal life has come to a standstill, with road transport disrupted as streams and lakes overflow, cutting off road links to remote villages.

Thousands of acres of agricultural fields are submerged as authorities release floodwaters into the sea. The water level at the Polavaram project spillway has reached 29 meters, with an inflow of 3,27,850 cusecs and an outflow of 3,00,125 cusecs.

In Rajahmundry, the water level at Dowleswaram Cotton Barrage has reached 10.8 feet, with 3.50 lakh cusecs of water being let into the sea. The heavy rain has led to flooding in several areas, including Rajahmundry, Rajanagaram, and Amalapauram.

Authorities have declared holidays for schools and colleges in affected areas and opened control rooms to manage the situation.
