Heavy rains caused by a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal have severely impacted the northern districts of Andhra Pradesh. Floodwaters are overflowing rivers and streams, damaging roads, and cutting off access to several villages. Many bridges have been washed away, making transportation impossible in certain areas.

In Gollaprolu, Pithapuram, landslides have damaged houses, killing one woman and injuring three others. Districts like Anakapalli, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Srikakulam saw heavy rainfall, with areas receiving up to 14 cms of rain.

Flooding has also impacted crops in over 5,000 hectares, including rice, cotton, and corn. Many roads, bridges, and electrical infrastructure have been damaged.

Authorities have been working to relocate people from affected areas and are closely monitoring reservoirs, which are nearing dangerous levels. The government is taking steps to repair the damage, estimating that permanent repairs could cost up to Rs12 crores.
