It is very well known that the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to change the name of the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences. A bill has been passed on Wednesday to change the name to Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences. Nara Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the name change. He is going to meet Andhra Pradesh governor Biswabhushan Harichandan to complain against the AP government for changing the name of the university.
It was in the year 1986, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, NTR started the medical and health university for the first time in the nation. During Chandrababu’s regime, in the year 1998, the university was named after its founder NTR. It was YSR who added the prefix Dr to the university and since then it has been called Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences.
Now, the YS Jagan government has changed the name to Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences. However, TDP said that it would fight against the government’s decision and would revert the name once they come back to power.
