BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has achieved a significant milestone in Andhra Pradesh by adding 2.17 lakh new connections in July 2024, bringing its total to 40 lakh connections in the state. This surge comes amid tariff hikes by private telecom operators, making BSNL’s competitive pricing more attractive to consumers.
Starting August 15, BSNL will launch 4G services in major cities across Andhra Pradesh. This rollout has generated significant interest, leading to increased demand for new connections and SIM cards. To facilitate this transition, BSNL is organizing special camps where users can upgrade their existing 2G SIM cards to 4G, enabling them to take full advantage of the enhanced network capabilities.
BSNL aims to expand its 4G network statewide by the end of September, involving the installation of antennas, base transceiver stations (BTS), and other core network infrastructure. A key focus of this expansion is to reach remote tribal areas, with plans to set up 1,200 new towers in villages to improve connectivity.
Officials have stated that BSNL services will soon be available in villages across Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Kurnool, East Godavari, and other districts. About 90 percent of new BSNL subscribers are opting for the Rs 249 recharge plan, which offers 45 days of validity, 2GB of data per day, 100 SMS per day, and unlimited voice calls. The affordable pricing and generous data allowance make it an attractive option for users.
