Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government’s resolution of the capital city issue has restarted development in Amaravati, attracting investors and institutions eager to establish a presence in the region. Among them, the renowned Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) is exploring opportunities to set up a new campus in Amaravati.
BITS, which operates campuses in Pilani (Rajasthan), Goa, Hyderabad, and Dubai, has expressed interest in expanding to Andhra Pradesh’s capital. The proposed campus is planned to span a 50-acre site, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to foster advanced education and research.

On Wednesday, representatives from BITS, accompanied by officials from the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), inspected potential sites for the campus. The team visited areas near SRM University in Kuragallu and another site near the bypass at Venkatayapalem. The representatives highlighted that a final decision would be made after further discussions with BITS’ management.
This development comes as Amaravati re-emerges as a hub of growth and investment following years of uncertainty regarding its capital status. The establishment of a prestigious institution like BITS in Amaravati is expected to boost the region’s educational landscape and drive further investments.
