Kurnool: The District President of the Photo Video Journalist Association, Meesala Ramaswamy, has called for an end to ongoing attacks on newspaper offices in Andhra Pradesh. In a petition submitted at the Kurnool Collector’s office, Ramaswamy, along with Deccan Chronicle Kurnool correspondent TV Prasad, urged DRO Madhusudan Rao to take immediate action.

Meesala Ramaswamy stressed the importance of a free and unbiased media in upholding democratic principles and expressed concern that government criticism of newspapers highlighting public issues could harm democracy. He condemned the attacks as attempts to silence the media and suppress press freedom.

Journalists and political leaders have raised alarms over the increasing trend of attacks on news organizations. Recent incidents in Delhi and Kurnool have sparked outrage among media professionals. During the petition submission, journalists TV Prasad, Srinivasulu, Raghavendra Zakir, and Vali showed their support.

The Photo Video Journalist Association demands swift action to ensure the safety and freedom of media organizations in Andhra Pradesh, highlighting that any attempt to suppress press freedom must be condemned and stopped immediately.
