Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh CID has launched an extensive investigation into a major liquor scam that allegedly took place during the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government’s tenure. On October 22, simultaneous raids were conducted across 20 distilleries in various districts of the state. The searches, which began at 8 AM, continued till midnight and uncovered crucial evidence related to illegal activities over the past five years.

The CID is investigating discrepancies between the amount of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) imported by these distilleries and the volume of liquor produced. Several distilleries were found to have large variations between ENA imports and production records, raising suspicions of illegal liquor manufacturing. The investigation also revealed that some distilleries were allegedly producing unauthorized “J” brand liquors under the influence of YS Jagan’s associates, including MP Mithun Reddy.
Key documents, hard drives, and records from the past five years were seized during the raids. The CID is now comparing this evidence with documents already seized from the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) to confirm the extent of the scam. Preliminary findings suggest that these distilleries received liquor supply orders worth Rs 8,000 crore from APSBCL over the last five years.
Additionally, the CID found evidence linking these illegal operations to Penaka Rohit Reddy, son-in-law of YSR Congress MP Vijay Sai Reddy, and his alleged proxy company, Adan Distilleries Pvt. Ltd.
