HYDERABAD: Schools in Andhra Pradesh will reopen on June 13 for the academic year 2024-25, following a brief postponement due to Chandrababu Naidu’s oath-taking ceremony as the new chief minister. Originally set to open on June 12, the state education department declared a holiday for all schools to accommodate the event.
The Andhra Pradesh education department has communicated this schedule change to all students. As part of their preparations, government schools have assembled 3.6 million educational kits to be distributed to students from grades 1 to 10 on the first day of school. These kits include three sets of uniform cloth, an Oxford dictionary, a school bag, a belt, and a test of English as foreign langauge (TOEFL) workbook.
Additionally, workbooks and pictorial dictionaries will be provided to students in grades 1 through 5, while students in grades 6 through 10 will receive notebooks. Bilingual textbooks continue to be offered, with textbooks for the 10th grade available in English starting this academic year. New artwork adorns the covers of textbooks for grades 3 to 10.
The state’s adoption of the CBSE curriculum has expanded, with approximately one thousand government schools now implementing it. For 10th-grade social studies, the CBSE teaching methods will cover geography, economics, history, and democratic politics using the NCERT syllabus. This year, physical science textbooks have been printed on art paper for the first time, and an innovative future skills course has been introduced for 8th-grade students.
