Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet sub-committee on Amaravati development has approved the allocation of 20 acres for the construction of an ESI hospital and medical college in Amaravati, announced Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P Narayana.

During the meeting, which also discussed land allocations for various institutions, P Narayana highlighted that several organisations had been granted land before 2019, but many projects saw delays. The minister noted that no significant developments occurred in the Amaravati region during the YSRCP regime.

The government has now issued notices to organisations that were previously allotted land, requesting written commitments to establish offices in Amaravati. The aim is to accelerate the region’s development, Narayana added.

Key land allocations include 5 acres to the Central Institute of Tools and Design (CITD), 0.8 acres to the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), 15 acres to the Basavatarakam Cancer Institute, and 5 acres to Larsen and Toubro’s skill training institute. Additional allocations include 10 acres for the Brahmakumari Educational Society and 25 acres for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

The land allotment process is expected to conclude by the end of next month, with ministers and officials participating both in person and virtually in the meeting.
